“Making Transit Fun!” Urban designer and author Darrin Nordahl on July 26, 2012


Author Darrin Nordahl asks, “Are cities serious about getting people out of their cars?” at the ULI Infrastructure Initiative Council meeting.  Nordahl wrote Making Transit Fun! How to Entice Motorists from their Cars (and onto their Feet, a Bike, or Bus) to look at design of the physical infrastructure of streets, sidewalks, and vehicles (buses, trolleys, bikes).  He admits he likes cars and uses analogies of the auto industry to address this issue.

Measuring ULI’s Impact in the community

The leadership of over 40 ULI district councils in the USA and Mexico held their annual retreat to discuss issues facing membership today such as making and measuring ULI’s impact in the community and strategies for enhancing member involvement. The ULI OC/IE Initiative Councils were highlighted during the discussion of the latter issue. The ULI OC/IE is credited with the expanding this activity in the district councils. Today more than 11 district councils have local Initiative Councils.
