TOD Tour Focuses on Best Practices and Lessons Learned

ULI Orange County/Inland Empire members started at ARTIC in Anaheim then trained/subwayed it up to LA to meet with Greg Angelo, Metro, and developers/designers of TOD sites at MacArthur Park and Hollywood and Vine, including Dan Falcon, Neal Payton, Ben Cien, and Tom Meredith. A special “thank you” to Matt Shannon, Urbanus LLC, for all of his help organizing a great tour.

Packed in at the Packing House

Shaheen Sadeghi, The LAB Holding, created new life in the historic Packing House in the Anaheim Colony District. In partnership with the City and Brookfield Residential, Sadeghi and partner Chris Bennett brought restaurants and jobs to the City but also layers of experiences. Great lessons learned by all at a sold-out quintessential ULI event where lessons learned were shared.

A panel of debt lending experts, from GE Capital, US Bank, Sabal Financial and Wells Fargo, spoke at the ULI Capital Markets Initiative Council. Takeaways: Leverage has increased. Foreign banks are competing in >$100m+ deals or banks are partnering on large deals. It’s still about relationships and trust.

Updating Building Codes

FEMA and NOAA invite ULI members with interests in building codes to provide input on how the federal government can better support updating the building codes adopted by state and local governments. The effort is tied to the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Strategy. FEMA and NOAA are hosting a series of webinars, starting on January 9th with the sessions planned to close on January 23rd.
