3 Major Trends Identified at the #ULI OC/IE Trends Day Event with Alex Parker Wing Lam Chad Lefteris and Bill Shopoff, moderated by Lucy Dunn. I’m proud to have organized it, but the panelists were magnificent! The three trends:
1. The electric grid in Southern California is simply not able to meet the demand of our growing built environment, healthcare system, and electric cars, etc. All forms of energy will be needed to meet demand, including hydrogen, and all other alternative fuels, including gasoline.
2. While many industries struggle with compensation to attract on-site workers, those in #manufacturing and #restaurants simply have no choice, as Wing from #Wahoos put it, “you can’t make a taco in your bedroom.” And those who work in teams, such as in real estate, can’t be effective if they’re not in the same room.
3. Healthcare and manufacturing both require exceptional engineers to be part of the innovative needs of today’s world. Orange County must make a concerted effort to retain the fantastic medical and engineering professionals who are trained here. At this point, too many graduates of the local schools are leaving.
Thanks also to The Smart Agency, Inc. for sponsoring the event!
