    We would like to invite members and friends of ULI OCIE who are looking to hire interns to join us on February 2nd as we bring together female students from the top schools across Southern California who are interested in careers in Real Estate. Industry professional participants will be asked to sit in on round table discussions broken out by industry focus to meet these young women and share experiences, tips, stories, etc on how to achieve a career in Real Estate. Student resumes and contact information will be distributed following the event and industry professionals are required to conduct a minimum of one informational interview.

    Beejal Northrup

    Irvine Company Office Properties

    Beejal Northrup leads the financial planning, investment underwriting, leasing analytics, portfolio analytics and credit review functions for Irvine Company’s Office division. Prior to joining Irvine Company in 2020, Beejal worked for 20+ years in financial roles at various companies, including 11 years at Healthpeak Properties, a $20 billion publicly traded healthcare REIT, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance for the Medical Office division. Beejal received her MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and her BS in Physiological Science with a minor in Accounting from UCLA. In her spare time, Beejal enjoys traveling with her husband and three children, trying unique restaurants, playing ping pong and pickleball, and watching creative movies.

    Lauren Racusin

    Bloomberg Associates

    Lauren Racusin, AICP has built her career on strategically investing in cities to improve urban life. At Bloomberg Associates, Lauren works at the intersection of urban planning, economic development, and sustainability. She has worked on strategic planning and policy initiatives across Latin America, Asia, as well as North America. Before joining Bloomberg Associates, Lauren was the Deputy Director for Empire State Development in New York City where she advanced economic development initiatives across New York State. She structured and negotiated the State’s discretionary incentives to induce business expansion, retention, and attraction projects in New York City that were in concert with the State’s long-term strategic goals. Lauren previously worked at the Hudson Square Business Improvement District on urban planning and capital projects. She was responsible for the creation and execution of HSC’s $27 million streetscape improvement plan via an innovative public-private partnership. She also oversaw the organization’s $3 million Green Infrastructure Program and managed the $7 million redevelopment of Soho Square. Additionally, Lauren has consulted on planning and architecture projects in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Dubrovnik, Croatia, as well as Lima, Peru with the U.S. Embassy in Peru. Lauren has a Masters in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP). She was awarded the Percival and Naomi Goodman Fellowship through which she developed an architecture and planning project in Yangon, Myanmar. Lauren received her B.A. from Princeton University where her thesis exploring Holocaust memorials in Berlin and the geographies of urban memory earned the highest thesis prize in her department. Lauren served as a Princeton in Asia Fellow in Chiang Rai, Thailand and later worked in Shanghai, China. Lauren currently serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Urban Development and Mixed-Use National Product Council. She also is a member of WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

    Linda Tatum, FAICP

    Assistant City Manager, City of Long Beach

    Prior to joining the City of Long Beach, Ms. Tatum served as the Acting Director of Economic and Community Development Department with the City of Inglewood where she oversaw the Successor Agency, Planning, Building Safety, and Code Enforcement and Housing Divisions. She also has prior experience in the City of Culver City and City of Santa Ana, as well as private sector experience in urban planning. Ms. Tatum holds a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government both from Florida State University. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and was recently elected as a Fellow, the highest honor bestowed upon members.

    Isabella Whalen

    Manager, Investments, Greystar

    Isabella Whalen is a Manager at Healthpeak Properties, focusing on acquisitions, development, and redevelopment of healthcare investments. Her team pursues opportunities of both life sciences in San Francisco, Boston, San Diego, and other major markets, as well as medical office buildings across the country. Prior to joining Healthpeak, Isabella worked for Greystar Real Estate Partners for six years in several roles. She began her career at Greystar with Client Services in Phoenix, AZ, and transitioned into Portfolio Management in Charleston, SC. There she assisted on several national Separate Accounts, including the BREIT student venture with Blackstone and the wind-down of an 18-asset portfolio valued at $1.57B. She most recently worked in Newport Beach, CA on the Investments team to underwrite multifamily opportunities throughout the southwest. There she assisted in the closing of several assets and valued over $16.0B of opportunities in markets throughout Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico. Prior to joining Greystar in 2016, Isabella supported a multifamily brokerage team at CBRE in Phoenix, AZ. Isabella is a member of Urban Land Institute, where she currently serves as Chair to the Young Leaders Group in Orange County/Inland Empire. She is also a member of Real Estate Association of Latinx Professionals and National Multifamily Housing Council, and was a former board member for Valley of the Sun 20/30 and Phoenix Parks Foundation. She received her bachelor of science in business administration in Marketing, Management, and Psychology with Honors from the University of Arizona.
