Mentorship Program

The mission of the Mentorship Program, now in its sixth year, is to foster an exchange of professional ideas, friendship, and expertise among young real estate professionals and industry veterans who are members of the Urban Land Institute. The program matches professionals under 35 years old ("Protégés") from ULI Orange County/Inland Empire's Young Leaders Group with experienced professionals ("Mentors") for career guidance and support, while offering Mentors an opportunity to strengthen ties with future real estate leaders.

Mentorship Program

The Mentoring Relationship

The ideal mentoring relationship is one that exceeds fact-finding and delves into personal knowledge and experience. In many cases, young professionals have certain career goals, but do not have the firsthand experience or insight on what to expect or how to achieve their goals. Mentors are invaluable resources in helping guide and advise the protégés based upon their experiences. A partnership between mentor and protégé must be developed in order to promote a good mentor relationship; the more committed the relationship, the more satisfaction is gained by all participants.

The program is designed to be successful with active participants. The goal of this program is to foster a meaningful relationship between the mentor and protégés that will last beyond the timeline of this program. The Mentorship Program runs on a calendar year. To apply for 2013, download an application and email it to the ULI Orange County/Inland Empire office at orangecounty@uli.org.
